What is Kitsune Udon? (KU)

Kitsune Udon is an Anime fan club based out of Fargo, North Dakota. KU got its start in the fall of 2005 during an all night anime watching marathon of _____. The people who had gathered had been getting together every few weeks in a similar manner. They finally decided to formalize the meetings to gain a legitimate excuse for taking time off work every other week. Thus, KU was founded.

In short, KU is an anime fan club. Members gather together once every other week to watch and discuss various anime and related topics. We are fanatical about watching as much of an anime at one time as we can. Often, an entire season of a standard 26 episode show can be completed in as few as two meetings.

Even though the club is centered around watching anime, we do not limit ourselves to that single activity. Members partake in various Rags through the year. Usually consisting of Dungeons and Dragons or the D20 Modern Setting. We have not yet made it to any conventions, but several trips are planned for the future (as funding allows).

But why Kitsune Udon?

Why did we pick Kitsune Udon as the club name? A matter of preference really. After many weeks of brainstorming, all of the original club members could come to only on conscientious for the club name, they wanted it to relate to catgirls in some manner. One day while chatting about Da Capo, they stumbled across the answer, Nabe. Several times through the series, the Moe sisters would make a bowl of Nabe on the roof of the school, and each time she used a different ingredient. All club members immediately agree on this as a name idea, except Neko Nabe does not flow well together. As a compromise, __[Mike]__ suggested using Kitsune as a substitute for Neko and Udon instead of Nabe. Foxgirls are, after all, closely associated with catgirls in the world of anime, and Kitsune Udon is a real Japanese dish. Thus, the club gained a name.

Where did you get that awesome logo?

After spending many hours surfing the net to find logo ideas, the member of KU decided their best inspiration came from the name itself. They drew wrote up a description of what they wanted the logo to entail and hired an artist to render it for them. A few weeks later, our artist delivered the wonderfully cute and highly detailed logo that you see above. [allow for a method to contact the artist if she wants]

Do you recommend any series?

Sure we do, but as a group, we can only recommend those shows that we have watched as a group. This is where the 'Anime' section of the site comes into play. On our anime page, we list all of the series that we have watched to date, along with the average rating of the group members. The higher the rating, the better the show is. To quickly find a list of the best shows, sort the anime by rating by clicking on the column heading. Be sure to check back every now and then to see which new shows we have seen and rated.
